He completed three years of General Surgery residency at KEM Hospital, Mumbai, followed by three years as Senior Resident in Surgical Oncology at Tata Memorial Centre, Mumbai—one of India’s most prestigious cancer institutes. He was awarded the Gold Medal for M.Ch. Surgical Oncology at Tata Memorial Centre, recognizing his outstanding academic performance.

Post super-specialization, Dr. Tamhankar worked as a Specialist Registrar in Surgical Oncology at Tata Memorial Centre for one year. He further enhanced his expertise by completing a Fellowship in Minimal Access and Robotic Gastrointestinal Surgery at the Department of Surgical Oncology, Tata Memorial Centre.

Dr. Tamhankar has received multiple awards and recognitions throughout his illustrious career. He has played an active role in academics and surgical training, including organizing and conducting Cadaver Liver Surgery and Organ Retrieval Workshops under the IHPBA (Indian Chapter), Mumbai, 2014.

He has special expertise in Peritonectomy and Hyperthermic Intraperitoneal Chemotherapy (HIPEC) and has received advanced training as a Visiting Fellow at the Peritoneal Malignancy Centre, Basingstoke, UK.
